A. P. A. (Ton) Broeders (b. 1946) has published extensively in the field of forensic phonetics and still contributes greatly to the professionalization of the field of forensic linguistics and forensic science in the Netherlands and abroad. Broeders does this by questioning the value, validity, and reliability of technical and scientific forensic evidence. He is concerned with the way in which scientists—but also lawyers, prosecutors, and judges—formulate conclusions based on forensic research, and stresses the important role they play in the criminal justice process.
