Gabriele Kasper (1948- ) is a professor of second language studies at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. She is a noted scholar in the field of interlanguage pragmatics, and has been cited as a major figure in the ongoing shift from cognitivist/rationalist perspectives in second language acquisition (SLA) to more socially grounded approaches.
