The language of courtroom interaction provides an exciting context not only to the study of written and verbal language but also to the analysis of language as a form of copresent communicative practice that integrates language, bodily conduct, and other semiotic resources (see Goodwin, 1994; Manzo, 1996; Matoesian, 2010).
