Abstract

In this article, we review the extant literature on the consumption or family life cycle (FLC). We also review criticisms of this concept. Finally, we propose a framework that might be useful in examining how life cycle might influence household decision making. We report briefly on one subject we have studied in our labs, namely, how children might influence parent preferences.
