Abstract

Business and professional migrants are the part of global human migration characterized by high levels of “human” and/or financial capital. From the perspective of nation-states and in the context of global competition for talent and capital, professional and business migrants are the most desirable category of immigrants, expected to have a positive economic impact by contributing either highly skilled labour or capital to the host society (Hawthorne 2005).
