Abstract

Hometown associations (HTAs) can be broadly defined as voluntary organizations whose members share a common place of origin and generate support – both financial and social – to carry out significant projects in migrant and home communities. Although the range of HTA projects varies, in most cases they are geared toward improving economic, social, and political opportunities for community residents.
