Abstract

The author discusses a number of recent migrations in Papua New Guinea, recorded in ethnographic and linguistic data. They offer interesting case studies of how groups of different ethnolinguistic background can intermix, and how small numbers of migrants can grow into large numbers of settlers, if and when they reach fertile terrain.
