Summary

By chlorination of ethyltrichlorosilane and diethyldichlorosilane with Cl2 under UV irradiation, (pentachloroethyl)trichlorosilane and bis(pentachloroethyl)-dichlorosilane have been prepared, which react with powdered copper forming (trichlorovinyl)trichlorosilane and bis(trichlorovinyl)dichlorosilane. The derivatizations of these silanes at the silicon atom by use of phenylmagnesium bromide, trifluoro-methanesulfonic acid, lithium aluminium hydride, zinc difluoride and bromoform are described. (Trifluorovinyl)-, bis(trifluorovinyl)- and tris(trifluorovinyl)silanes have been prepared by the reaction of trifluoromethanesulfonyloxysilanes and trifluorovinyl-lithium. Attempts to prepare Si polymers bearing perhalovinyl groups by dehydrogenative coupling of RSiH2 with metal catalysts have not been successful.
