Condensation reactions of cyclopentadienyl silanetriols (CpR Si(OH)3) with zirconium tetra-t-butoxide yield oligomeric zirconasiloxanes. Various types of polyhedral structures can be obtained by small structural modifications of the reactants or by variation of reaction parameters. These compounds can be considered as valuable model systems for zirconasilicates.
