To the Editor:
We thank Razykov and colleagues for their comments regarding potential risks associated with screening for depression and suicidal ideation. We would like to note that results of studies of screening for suicidal thoughts in unselected populations may not generalize to high risk groups. For this reason, we have chosen to focus our analysis on identification of subgroups of patients with arthritis at highest risk for suicidal ideation.
