Abstract

The sintering behavior and the mechanical properties of syntactic foams produced by means of metal-powder injection moulding depend on the interaction of the metal matrix and the integrated hollow spheres. In order to investigate these mechanisms, Ni-powder size was varied in the production of FeNi36-syntactic foams with integrated hollow micro glass spheres. For mechanical characterization tensile tests and RFDA-measurements were performed as the respective parameters were expected to react most sensitively upon variations of the foam structure.
