We study solid state-reactions in the ALD-grown Fe2O3/CoXOY/ZnO thin film system. After annealing at 700°C the initial three-layer system becomes a complex mixture of different spinel structures. Depending on the ratio of the constituent Fe3+ and Co2+ ions, the complex compound reveals dia-, para- or ferromagnetic properties. We also report on the voids formation (size 100nm) at the interface between complex spinel mixture and remaining ZnO film.
