Lithium metal phosphate olivines have emerged as important storage electrodes in batteries for electric vehicles and other applications addressing global issues of energy supply and climate change. On page 1060, Meethong et al. use controlled aliovalent solute doping to tailor the defect and atomic structure in olivines, and demonstrate the resulting impact on physical and electrochemical properties.
