A sequence of plasma treatments is applied to completely remove organic ligands from arrays of nanocolloidal particles on oxidic substrates. The structural and chemical impact of the plasma exposure on particles, layers, and substrate are analyzed. The results are evaluated in detail using a large variety of techniques to understand the effects on the system.
