Abstract

The structure of the 85 K Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconductor has been investigated by means of high resolution electron microscopy combined with image simulation. An ordered one-in-five substitution of calcium by bismuth ions is proposed as the explanation for the observed superlattice formation.
