Abstract

Implants are used in all three major fields of ENT surgery with, however, widely varying materials requirements. In contrast to most other fields of implantology, the transmission of functional loads is only of minor importance and, thus, neither the mechanical properties of the implant materials nor the interfacial stress and strain fields demand major consideration.
