Determination of the Particle Size Distribution of Quantum Nanocrystals from Absorbance Spectra

The optical absorbance spectrum for a suspension of quantum particles with an arbitrary particle size distribution is determined by the electronic transition and the distribution of bandgaps in the system. It is demonstrated that the particle size distribution obtained for a suspension of ZnO quantum particles is in excellent agreement with the distribution obtained from transmission electron microscope images.
