Synthesis of a Water-Soluble Conjugated Polymer Based on Thiophene for an Aqueous-Processed Hybrid Photovoltaic and Photodetector Device

A water-soluble polymer (PWTV) is synthesized and applied to aqueous-processed hybrid solar cells and photodetectors. PWTV can supply an effective secondary bond to the CdTe colloidal quantum dots. The hybrid PWTV:CdTe material exhibits excellent photoelectric properties, and the devices have a power conversion efficiency of 4.1%. In addition, the device shows good light-response properties, and it is sensitive to a wide spectrum range.
