Polymerization: Assembly of Free-Standing Polypeptide Films via the Synergistic Combination of Hyperbranched Macroinitiators, the Grafting-From Approach, and Cross-Chain Termination (Adv. Mater. 33/2013)

Free-standing polypeptide films are formed by a novel cross-linking pathway involving cross-chain terminations of polypeptide chains grown from multifunctional initiators. Greg G. Qiao, Frank Caruso, and co-workers describe on page 4619 how this fabrication method provides a facile approach towards the formation of stable cross-linked polypeptide capsules with tunable thickness, compositions, and enzymatic degradability.
