The current research status of chemical modification/doping of carbon nanotubes and graphene and their relevant applications is reviewed by Sang Ouk Kim and co-workers on page 40. Unlike pristine graphitic carbons with limited application scopes, chemically modified/doped graphitic carbons with controllable workfunction, carrier density, surface energy, and surface reactivity may offer optimized applications to various areas, including flexible electronics/optoelectronics, energy conversion/storage, nanocomposites, and environmental remediation.
