Non-Sacrificial Water Photo-Oxidation Activity of Lamellar Calcium Niobate Induced by Exfoliation

Exfoliation of lamellar KCa2Nb3O10 and subsequent restacking results in activating the surface of KCa2Nb3O10 sheets for non-sacrificial water oxidation under band-gap irradiation, although the lamellar solid shows no photocatalytic activity. This study highlights the utility of flexible, nanostructured single-crystalline metal-oxide nanosheets as photocatalysts for non-sacrificial water oxidation in the presence of a reversible electron acceptor.
