Demonstration of transport of trapped light: the refractive index contrast between a colloidal dispersion of micrometer-sized particles and the surrounding ferrofluid is a function of the applied static magnetic field. This can be used to tune the morphology-dependent resonance in the microspheres, leading to light trapping. The trapped light can then be transported magnetically via the ferrodispersion and released by turning off the applied field.
