Mechanism of Photoluminescence from Chemically Derived Graphene Oxide: Role of Chemical Reduction




A comprehensive picture of the photoluminescence mechanism of various chemically derived graphene oxides is given. In particular, the strong blue emission at about 430 nm is correlated with carbon defect states formed during the reduction of graphene oxide and the enhanced long-wavelength tuning photoluminescence from functionalized reduced graphene oxide with the enhanced sp2 cluster size effect via resonant energy transfer.
