Eliminating Micro-Cavity Effects in White Top-Emitting OLEDs by Ultra-Thin Metallic Top Electrodes

The device efficiency and angular color stability of white top-emitting OLEDs is significantly improved by a decrease in thickness of the semitransparent silver cathode. The transmittance increases and the micro-cavity effects are reduced. Inserting a 2 nm gold wetting layer, the silver layer can be reduced to 5 nm achieving higher efficiency and comparable color stability to the bottom-emitting reference.
