Scanning electron microscope and fluorescence microscope images of 2D arrays of photoluminescent light sources with characteristic sizes and periods ranging from a few micrometers up to tens of micrometers are shown on page 894. G. Barillaro and co-workers selectively integrate a green-emitting conjugated polymer into 3D silicon microstructures featuring 2D arrays of holes with different sizes, periods, and aspect ratios. Such a synergistic integration of luminescent polymers and silicon microstructures would pave the way towards interesting and new photonics and diagnostics applications.
