Abstract

Solid materials can generate 1O2 (1Δg) either by irradiation of an immobilized dye in the presence of oxygen, or by catalytic decomposition of H2O2. The methods for obtaining such solid catalysts are described, and the usefulness of the obtained materials in preparative 1O2 oxygenations (“ene” hydroperoxidation, [2+2]- and [4+2]-cycloaddition) is discussed, particularly with respect to substrate scope, solvent scope, reusability and productivity of the catalyst, regioselectivity and chemoselectivity of the oxidation.
