Abstract

The technique of testing the validity of phase equilibria by applying thermodynamic consistency tests is highly developed for vapor-liquid equilibria. The application to solid-liquid equilibria, howerver, has been developed very little. The problems associated with thermodynamic consistency tests are discussed and a new technique for evaluating the validity of experimental data has been developed. Several possible test equations are presented and are applied to test the consistency of three sets of solid-liquid equilibrium data.
