Trot-gallop transition in a macaque

At the trot-gallop transition, a rhesus monkey's stride rate was approximately half and its stride length double predicted values based on equations presented by Heglund et al. (1974). However, the monkey's trot-gallop transition speed was consistent with Heglund et al.'s (1974) prediction. The unusual primate footfall pattern may explain the discrepancy in stride rate and length.
