Abstract

Dirac's equation for the scattering of high energy electrons by a modified coulomb potential is solved approximately after converting it into a second order equation and a close expression for the scattering amplitude is obtained. The expression can be used to obtain information about the charge-distribution in the nuclei by analysing the experimental data on electron scattering. To test the usefulness of the approach some preliminary calculations were done on Au and C nuclei, and the results are found to be satisfactory.
