Reines As(N3)5 sollte wie AsCl5 sehr instabil sein und bei früheren Versuchen, es zu synthetisieren, war es zu heftigen Explosionen gekommen. Nun werden die erfolgreiche Synthese und Charakterisierung von reinem As(N3)5 und Sb(N3)5 sowie die Struktur des [Sb(N3)6]-Ions im Kristall (siehe Bild) beschrieben.
