Eine hoch enantioselektive Mannich-Reaktion von β-Ketoestern in Gegenwart katalytischer Mengen des Pd-Aqua-Komplexes 1 wurde entwickelt (siehe Schema; PG=Schutzgruppe). Unterschiedlichste Imine, abgeleitet von Glyoxylat sowie von einfachen aromatischen und α,β-ungesättigten Aldehyden, konnten in hohen Ausbeuten und mit ausgezeichneten Enantioselektivitäten in die Mannich-Addukte überführt werden.
