Abstract

Das Muscheltoxin Azaspiracid-1 aus Mytilus edulis hat für erhebliche Verwirrung gesorgt, denn ursprünglich war eine falsche Struktur für die Verbindung vorgeschlagen worden. K. C. Nicolaou und Mitarbeiter beschreiben in ihren Zuschriften auf S. 4412 ff. die Aufklärung der Struktur und der absoluten Konfiguration durch Abbaustudien und Totalsynthese. Die Synthese sollte die wertvolle Substanz für dringend notwendige Biotoxin-Tests und biologische Untersuchungen zugänglich machen.
