Moleküle definieren eine Logik: Ein molekularer logischer „ODER“-Gatterschalter entstand, indem eine funktionelle Gruppe in einem Doxorubicin-Prodrug mit einem Linker maskiert wurde, der zwei spaltbare Substrate (Eingabe, rot) enthält. Das Prodrug-Molekül wurde mit zwei verschiedenen Enzymen aktiviert, um den Wirkstoff (Ausgabe, blau) freizusetzen.
