Die Festkörperstruktur von Li+[{MeAl(PPh)3Li4}44-Cl)(thf)12] (siehe Bild) illustriert das Konzept der Modifikation eines Ionengitters durch „inverse“ Koordination der Anionen. Durch Einkapselung der Cl-Ionen in Heterometallkäfigen aus vier inversen Liganden [MeAl(PPh)3Li4] ändert sich das ursprüngliche NaCl-Gitter von LiCl beträchtlich.
