Noch eine Ecke draufgesetzt: Das 15-Ecken-Metallacarboran 3 wurde durch Reduktion des 14-Ecken-Carborans 1 zum nido-Carborandianion 2 und anschließende Umsetzung mit [{(p-cymol)RuCl2}2] erhalten (siehe Schema). Um immer größere Cluster zu erhalten sind Redoxreaktionen (z. B. zu 4) zu unterbinden.
