Rh/Cr2O3-Kern-Schale-Nanopartikel auf einer (Ga1−xZnx)(N1−xOx)-Legierung werden durch In-situ-Photoabscheidung synthetisiert. Diese Nanopartikel (siehe Bild) fördern die Wasserspaltung bei Bestrahlung mit sichtbarem Licht (λ>400 nm). Ohne die Cr2O3-Hülle entsteht Wasser aus H2 und O2 in einer unerwünschten Rückreaktion.
