Bestätigung für einen Vorschlag: Die ursprünglich vorgeschlagene Struktur von Maitotoxin wurde kürzlich durch Erwägungen zur Biosynthese und Rechnungen infrage gestellt. Ein Vergleich der experimentellen 13C-NMR-spektroskopischen Daten für eine neue synthetisierte Teilstruktur und die entsprechende GHIJK-Ring-Domäne der Verbindung (siehe Strukturbild) stützt den ursprünglichen Strukturvorschlag.
