Je nach der Position des Cyclopropylsubstituenten eines Bicyclo[4.1.0]hept-2-en-Substrats eignen sich unterschiedliche Rhodiumkomplexe als Katalysatoren für die Titelreaktion, die mitunter in ausgezeichneter Ausbeute zu bicyclischen Dienonen führt (siehe Schema). Die hoch substituierten Siebenringe der Produkte bieten sich für weitere Funktionalisierungen an. R1=H, Me; R2=H, Me, Ph; R3=Me, Et; X=NR, O.
