Unter freundlicher Mithilfe von HClO4 als Protonen- und BPh4 als Elektronenquelle kann der Eisenkomplex eines fünfzähnigen Cyclamliganden mit N-Pyridylrest Disauerstoff unter Bildung des Oxoeisen(IV)-Komplexes aktivieren (siehe Schema; TMC-py=1-(2′-Pyridylmethyl)-4,8,11-trimethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecan; C grau, Fe magenta, N blau, O rot). Die Umwandlung könnte über ein Hydroperoxoeisen(III)-Intermediat verlaufen.
