Teilweise fluorierte Binol-Gerüste (siehe Bild) sind die Grundlage vielseitiger helical-chiraler Materialien. Unterschiedliche Fluorierungsmuster führen zu einem deutlich abweichenden Kristallpackungsverhalten, was die Entwicklung neuartiger Materialien für Anwendungen von der Halbleitersynthese bis hin zur Katalyse erleichtern sollte.
