Ein starkes Signal: Eine Methode zum Nachweis einer DNA-Hybridisierung mithilfe des Förster-Energietransfers nutzt einen photonischen Kristall zur Verstärkung des optischen Signals (siehe Bild). Damit konnten einzelne Fehlpaarungen selektiv nachgewiesen werden, und eine Empfindlichkeit von etwa 13.5 fM wurde erreicht.
