In der Kürze liegt die Würze: Der Austausch eines Guanidinatliganden gegen eine Methylgruppe überführt den monomeren Komplex [{(Me3Si)2NC(NCy)2}2Cr] in das Dimer [{(Me3Si)2NC(NCy)2CrMe}2] (siehe Bild) mit der kürzesten bekannten Cr-Cr-Vierfachbindung. Vermutlich trägt eine agostische Wechselwirkung der Methylgruppe gemäß Cr-H[BOND]CH2Cr zu dem beobachteten geringen Cr-Cr-Abstand bei.
