Bisosmanaphthalin 2 und Osmadehydronaphthalin 3 sind selektiv und in hohen Ausbeuten durch intramolekulare C-H-Aktivierung des Osmiumhydrid(alkenylcarbins) 1 in Inert- oder oxidierender Atmosphäre zugänglich (unter N2 bzw. O2). Mit der Reaktion von 2 zu 3 gelang die erste Umwandlung eines Metallabenzols in ein Metallabenzin.
