Neu unter die Lupe genommen: Die Strukturen Vanadyl-terminierter Monomere, Trimere (siehe Bild) und Oligomere auf einer CeO2(111)-Oberfläche wurden mit einer Kombination hochentwickelter experimenteller und theoretischer Methoden in atomarer Auflösung untersucht. Die CeO2-Oberfläche stabilisiert Vanadiumoxidspezies im Oxidationszustand +5, die die Oberfläche benetzen und chemisch reduzieren und eine wichtige Rolle für die Reaktivität von CeO2-fixiertem Vanadiumoxid in Oxidationsreaktionen spielen dürften.
