Weg mit dem „O“! Gold- und Silbernanopartikel (NPs) auf Trägern sind bekannte Epoxidierungskatalysatoren, sie können aber auch eine Desoxygenierung von Epoxiden zu Alkenen katalysieren, bei der Alkohol als Reduktionsmittel wirkt (siehe Bild). Bei hervorragenden Umsatzzahlen lag die Selektivität für alle Alkene über 99 %. Außerdem konnten die Nanopartikelkatalysatoren wiederverwendet werden.
