Standhafte Kügelchen: AFM-Experimente mit einer Diamantspitze ergaben für Nanokügelchen aus aromatischen Dipeptiden (siehe Bild) einen bemerkenswerten Young-Modul von 275 GPa, der an Werte für Metalle heranreicht. Diese Nanostrukturen zählen zu den starrsten organischen Materialien und sind somit interessante Bausteine für hochfeste Biokompositmaterialien.
