Abwechslungsreich: Durch Kombination planarer Kationen mit planaren anionischen Strukturen auf Basis π-konjugierter acyclischer Dipyrrole wurden Anordnungen mit alternierender Abfolge der geladenen Komponenten gebildet (siehe Bild). So ließen sich nicht nur Kristalle, sondern auch weiche Materialien wie supramolekulare Gele und thermotrope Flüssigkristalle herstellen.
