Eine effiziente Synthesemethode für α,α-difluorierte Alkylsulfonate beruht auf dem Einsatz einer 2-Pyridyl-Gruppe als Arylsubstituent am Sulfon (siehe Schema). Der Anwendungsbereich fluorierter Sulfone in Synthesen wird erweitert, und für ein lange bestehendes Problem bei nucleophilen Difluor(sulfonato)methylierungen wird eine einzigartige Lösung präsentiert.
