Ein offener und geschlossener Fall: Das photochrome Bisthienylethen BTTE auf Basis von Benzobisthiadiazol zeigt ein exzellentes photochromes Verhalten in Lösung und im Einkristall (siehe Bild). Die thermische Stabilität von BTTE ist hervorragend, vergleichbar zum gut bekannten, fünfgliedrigen Gegenstück auf Hexafluorcyclopentenbasis.
