Unter milden Bedingungen führt die regio- und diastereoselektive Titelreaktion zu funktionalisierten Polycyclen mit Cyclobuten- (siehe Schema; PG=Schutzgruppe) oder Azacycloocten-Ringen in mäßigen bis guten Ausbeuten. Die Anwendungsbreite der Reaktion und mögliche Mechanismen werden diskutiert.
